TRANSIT

MFA Thesis exhibition 2025 featuring works by:

Patricia Edwine Poku, Phaedra Askarinam, Connor Gagne, Julia Cheng Zhang, Andres Izquierdo and Pooja Campbell.

Six artists, whose practices encompass painting, photography, ceramics, installation, and performance, draw on their unique personal histories as they find common ground in the concept of Transit— a word that defined as “an act, process, or instance of passing through or over.”

To varying degrees, their work examines the transitions—between cultures, through grief, into parenthood—that define moments of self-discovery.

EWIA

Duo exhibition by Anacostia Arts Center featuring works by:

Patricia Edwine Poku, Rodney “BUCK!” Herring

The exhibition embodies the concept of art serving as a time machine, transporting us across different eras and perspectives, by investigating the convergence of past, present, and future, deeply influenced by West African history and contemporary literature.

Ewia, meaning “sun” in English, symbolizes the universal connection of humanity under a shared sky.

Online art exhibition in collaboration with Artsy presenting a collection of works by the Women of TAAH (The African Artists Hub).

Hailing from diverse corners of Africa and its diaspora, these artists bring forth a multitude of perspectives, crafting a mosaic of interconnected narratives.

Theresah Ankomah (Ghana), Sheila Fuseini (Ghana), Tayhe Munsamy (South Africa), and Patricia Edwine Poku (Ghana/USA) each offer unique explorations of identity, transformation, and societal dynamics through their art.

Collectively, these artists challenge conventional boundaries, inviting audiences to reconsider notions of beauty, functionality, and societal constructs. Through their diverse mediums and distinct voices, they illuminate the intricacies of the human condition, forging connections that transcend geographical and cultural divides. Join us as we embark on a journey of discovery, where art becomes a universal language uniting us in dialogue, introspection, and transformation.
